As a national network of tutoring and writing nonprofits, the Network is always learning, connecting, and collaborating to better help a greater number of students become stronger and more confident writers across the United States. For the past 12 years , the Network has convened for a week each summer to learn and connect with field experts and each other in one vibrant city home to an chapter. In April , Dave Eggers founded ScholarMatch , a nonprofit organization that aims to make higher education possible for underserved youth. ScholarMatch coordinates students with various resources, donors, scholarships, and universities to aid in the financial undertaking of pursuing a college education. Following the success and impact of Valencia in its first two years, NYC opened its doors in In , Boston joined the growing network, followed by DC, which opened in In , a national office was established to support the chapters and act as a central hub of the network. In addition, there are fifty inspired organizations across the globe. Volunteers are trained by staff members for various areas of programs: after-school tutoring, the Young Authors Book Project, field trips, in-school programs, and writing workshops.
